An antique Dictaphone repurposed into a unique floor lamp
A beautiful antique dictaphone repurposed into a unique floor lamp.
The dictaphone was manufactured in the 1910’s and has been carefully restored.
Not all the parts are still in place and the dictaphone no longer works, but the majority of features are present and provide lots of visual interest.
I have added a silver chrome arced stem to the top part, with a gorgeous mid century orange shade that hangs from it.
The shade provides a wonderful warm, golden light and colour that ties in with the lovely ‘dictaphone’ typography on the side of the machine.
I have also used a golden braided flex to enhance the golden features.
I have added a black push button switch to the lid of the Dictaphone to turn the lamp on and off with ease.
The box stands on a purpose built trolley that can be wheeled along.
Please note there are a few scuffs and marks on the piece, in keeping with its age.
The lamp holder is silver chrome with an E27 bulb fitting. An LED light bulb is included in the price. The shade fits over the lamp holder and is secured in place with a shade ring.
I love the combination of the antique dictaphone with all it character, and the slick mid century modern light fitting.
All electrical items used are new and approved by CE safety standards.
The lamp has been PAT tested.
